Unione Sportiva Triestina Calcio is Trieste's football club that plays in the Italian Serie B with red and white shirts emblazoned with a halberd crest. It was formed by two local clubs, Ponziana and Foot-Ball Club Trieste, which officially merged on 18 December 1918. In spring 2006, after almost a century of exciting history, the Fantinel family took over the management of the club, with plans for a comeback in grand style.
